A bit about Field:

To reach Net Zero, we need to solve big challenges - like how to store energy, solve grid intermittency, and heat our homes without fossil fuels. And, if we’re going to prevent climate catastrophe, we need to do this now. Field will fund, build and operate the renewable infrastructure we need to tackle these challenges.

We’re starting with energy storage, with a portfolio of batteries in the UK and Europe. Storage is critical to the future success of renewable energy; it allows us to store renewable energy for when it's needed, creating a more reliable, flexible and green grid.

We need to massively accelerate the deployment of storage assets. At Field, we will show that batteries are a totally viable part of our energy infrastructure - now, not in some distant future. And, we have ambitious plans to become the defining new clean energy player in Europe over the next few years, gradually expanding beyond batteries into new asset types.

Overview:

Following a successful 18 months of project development, Field has over 3GW of projects at varying stages of development spread across the UK and further developments in Italy. Having successfully commissioned our first project in Oldham, Manchester and with more projects coming on line over the next year, Field is looking to grow its project development team.

Supported by a team of grid specialists and development professionals you’ll have the opportunity to join one of the UK’s fastest growing developer, owner operators in Europe. Focussing on utility and grid scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with a future view to delivering co-located projects,

Field presents an unrivalled opportunity for a successful candidate to make a valued and real contribution to not just the company but the UK and Europe’s renewable energy and carbon reduction targets.

The role:

The Project Developer role is critical to support the development of Field’s pipeline of battery energy storage system projects. In this role, you would be responsible for rapidly building Field’s pipeline of battery storage within the UK, through a combination of greenfield development, joint development agreements, and acquiring shovel-ready projects.

Assisted by in-house grid, land and legal teams, you would manage the consenting process taking projects from site selection and/or due diligence through to construction.

Main responsibilities:

Management of planning & consenting process

  • Work with in-house and consultant design teams to develop operable designs
  • Manage technical, environmental and planning consultants to submit planning applications and gain consent for the developments, including stakeholder engagement and programme management
  • Build relationships with developers to deliver joint development projects

Conduct high level site evaluation to establish which sites to progress development work on

  • Undertake high level due diligence of prospective sites (land/lease status, planning and environmental desktop status, grid status, local constraints, key costs)
  • Understand how site constraints can impact CAPEX and project financials

Effectively prioritise our greenfield development work

  • Undertake regular site visits around the UK identifying and screening potential sites for BESS projects

Support of landowner engagement

  • Work with in-house land team to secure suitable land agreements for sites

A bit about you:

  • Enthusiasm and curiosity about the energy storage industry
  • Humble and hands-on team player, necessary in a small company environment
  • Ability to work well with others at all levels, including senior management
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and plan across multiple initiatives
  • Great communicator that enjoys both upskilling team members and learning from them

Experience and skills we look for:

  • 4+ years in development role ideally within the renewable and energy industry
  • Strong understanding of consenting regimes within the UK, environmental constraints and their impact on development
  • Experience of managing EIA consultants, stakeholder engagement and programme management
  • Experience of dealing with landowners and land agents for the negotiation of Option and Lease Agreements
