The Opportunity
EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.
We are looking for a talented Flexibility Commercial Lead to join the Flexibility Services team. The team are responsible for the operations, settlement, commercial oversight, product development and delivery of market leading route to market services to asset owners of flexible technologies such as battery storage and gas peakers.

What you’ll be doing
As the Flexibility Commercial Lead, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for EDF’s gas peaker portfolio whilst also supporting other flexible technologies across the business e.g. battery storage. You will have oversight of the flexibility portfolio and ownership of associated commercial policies and risks.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of both signed and prospective customer contracts from initial asset valuation and pricing through to complex contract structuring and performance management.
As the SME, you will provide technical support to and drive innovation for functions across teams within Flexibility Services and WMS Commercial on gas peaker technical parameters, customer reporting, commercial, regulation and flexibility markets.
Who you are
We are looking for somebody with experience in the battery storage or gas peaking plants areas. You will be required to provide technical support to wider teams and therefore will show a good understanding and knowledge of the flexibility markets. Experience in structuring commercial contracts and developing valuation techniques within either the gas peaker or battery areas is also preferred.
You will be highly numerical with a proven ability to apply and understand a wide variety of modelling and analytical techniques to ensure best practice is applied.
This role requires interface with stakeholders of all levels from Business Development, Flexibility Strategy & Innovation, Customers Legal, Market and Credit Risk, Flexibility Operations, Sales & Marketing and external customers. Therefore, we’re looking for somebody who can establish and maintain effective internal and external business relationships, with excellent communication skills.
