The Opportunity
EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.
We are looking for a talented Flexibility Technical Lead to join our Flexible Services team as the subject matter expert on fundamental power engineering, battery storage trading strategies, data analysis and visualisation, asset constraints and grid codes including the BSC.

What you’ll be doing
As the Flexibility Technical Lead, you will be responsible for owning and developing data to support data visualisations for teams, customer reporting, data efficiency and ensuring all data related to Flexibility Services is maintained to an excellent standard.
You will identify solutions for automating processes and data flows with the goal of developing Flexibility Services into an agile and data centric team, ensuring you deliver a quality customer experience.
Providing technical project support across teams within Flexibility Services and the wider WMS team, you will identify and lead improvements of asset parameter monitoring, automation, and technical analysis. You will support the commercial function in Flexibility Services on asset valuations, pricing, and product development.
You will be required to attend and engage in industry events as a representative of EDF, feeding into technical consultations relevant to the flexibility industry and writing posts and articles on a wide range of topics including market dynamics, battery optimisation, power engineering and grid conditions.
Who you are
We are looking for somebody with proven experience and expertise in one or more of the following languages: SQL, Python, Alteryx, Tableau or C#.
You will have excellent knowledge and understanding of the UK flexibility industry, a strong numerical ability and experience with technical data analysis. A background in electrical or chemical engineering is also preferred.
Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, you will be required to communicate and present clear and concise information to all levels. We are looking for somebody with excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships.
