In addition to the development business, the Harmony group includes Harmony Energy Advisors Ltd (“HEAL”) which acts as investment advisor to Harmony Energy Income Trust plc (“HEIT”), a new investment company listed on the London Stock Exchange in November 2021.

These new elements of the business have driven significant growth of the business and a requirement for rapid expansion of the team.

About the role

The Graduate Asset Manager will primarily assist Harmony Energy’s Head of Asset Management with his day-to-day work. This will involve the management of Harmony’s battery projects, and potentially solar projects, from the end of the construction phase through operations. You will develop a broader role within the operational team and work closely with our Data Scientist to develop and use our Asset Monitoring and Reporting platform (Harmonise). As you build experience you will take on more and more responsibility which will grow as our portfolio comes online (set to be 1GW+ by the end of 2024).

You will initially be working closely with Tesla for both battery O&M and optimisation. This is set to expand to multiple parties by the end of 2023. We are a growing business with big ambitions so the role can be tuned to meet the experience and ambition of the individual candidate.

The position requires a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can manage competing priorities and communicate fluently in a fast-paced and high performing team environment. Being able to work proactively, use initiative and remain diligent and organised is an essential part of the job.

The role would be of interest to those that want the challenge and responsibility of contributing towards the successes of a rapidly growing and ambitious company, with the support of an experienced professional team to develop existing skills and grow knowledge of asset management in the energy sector.

Key responsibilities

This is a broad and varied role with the opportunity to learn a huge amount about the energy storage market and help maintain one of the UK’s largest battery portfolios. Key responsibilities include aiding the Head of Asset Management in:

-         Monitoring Battery Availability and Revenue performance

-         Monitoring of Battery Warranty and State of Health metrics

-         Document control and management of asset documentation, from construction handover to the rest of the asset lifecycle.

-         Management of contractors to ensure they deliver outstanding obligations from the construction phase

-         Management of contractor progress against their maintenance schedules

-         Site visits for asset management inspections

-         Managing Tesla’s O&M team, including ensuring reporting is submitted on time, spare parts are delivered in line with landowner requirements, strict work control systems are in place

-         Working with the Head of Asset Management and Chief Information Officer to develop short- and medium-term data strategies, develop dashboards, tracking tools, etc.

-         Aiding the preparation of Asset Management Performance Reports

-         Aiding the preparation of O&M reports and O&M budgets

-         Keeping abreast of market activity and regulations

-         Ensuring H&S Policy is adhered to across sites

-         Capacity Market Contract Management


Key Skills

-         Science/Engineering based degree valued but not essential

-         Communication: You will be on the phone regularly with our O&M partners, Battery Manufacturers, Optimisers and National Grid. Good relationship management and communication skills are essential

-         Attention to detail: The job will involve a fair amount of contract management where small mistakes can have large consequences.

-         Initiative: Harmony is a dynamic and ambitious company. This role will require someone with initiative who can work proactively and get things done without being pushed.
