Sales Manager
Role Description:
With the technology tried and tested and an order pipeline building, this role will focus on growing sales and implementing strong sales processes and disciplines.
With an impressive track record in the sale of energy technologies and services into the industrial, commercial and public sector, the successful candidate will develop business opportunities and secure sales contracts for energy storage systems and associated services for Connected Energy. You will help us to define customer needs and take an uncompromising approach to delivering exceptional service. Most importantly you will have an existing customer base and the ability to effectively close sales but will also think strategically to help guide the expansion of our UK and international sales activities.
General:
- Develop a strong understanding of Connected Energy’s technical and commercial offering.
- Help develop, implement and follow internal processes with the support of the sales team.
- Develop strong internal relationships with colleagues to ensure positive project execution.
- Liaise with other members of the sales team and wider business to share best practice.
- Create and maintain data in the online customer relationship management system (CRM) and ensure data is maintained promptly and accurately to reflect a true picture of sales prospects and progress against key performance indicators.
- Prepare presentations, sales offers, tenders and contracts.
- Participate pro-actively in sales team meetings to help shape plans and strategy.
- Support and participate in wider marketing activity including PR, exhibitions, online communications and website content.
- Become familiar with and communicate the culture and aspirations of Connected Energy.
Business development:
- Given the Newcastle location the role will primarily be focussed on customer contact and relationship development for opportunities in the north of the UK but business development activity will cover a wider geography as required by the market and sales strategy
- Work with the Head of Sales to target specific sectors, customers and secure projects.
- Generate enquiries and opportunities through outbound sales calls, emails, visits etc and capitalising on existing relationships, data sources and web based information.
- Engage, network and develop positive long-term relationships with customers.
- Formally present Connected Energy’s offer to customers and follow in house processes designed to secure orders.
- Informally provide expert consultancy and advise to customers.
- Influence key industry and customer decision makers towards the selection of Connected Energy for their projects.
- Carry out contract negotiations with customers through to contract signature.
- Act as a customer contact point, providing ad hoc post-sales customer support where required.
- Participate in trade fairs and exhibitions to generate and maintain business relationships.
This role could be for you if you have:
- Experience in a similar role with at least five years of experience
- Knowledge of sales in the public or commercial sector
- Experience in a similar field and an interest in energy storage or renewable technologies
- Strong customer relationship building and analytical skills are essential, as is a persuasive capacity and collaborative approach to customer demands.
- The role needs a highly committed, positive, ambitious, and forward-thinking individual with exceptional interpersonal ability.
