Eku Energy is looking for a Policy and Markets Analyst to support its rapidly growing global energy storage business. 

Eku’s global energy storage business develops, builds, owns and operates grid scale battery storage projects across a number of markets globally including Australia and the UK. This role is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team as the business looks to move to the next phase of growth in becoming a global market leader. 

As a highly motivated Policy and Markets Analyst, you will support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy. This role will see you work in the Technology, Markets and Trading business with responsibility for analysing and quantifying emerging policy, regulatory and market opportunities and risks of our battery storage investments and operations. The role location is based in our London office within a hybrid working environment. You will report into the Principal Policy and Regulations Manager and have the following key responsibilities for our EMEA region development and portfolio activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring and advising on the relevant policy, regulation, market and tender requirements, risks and opportunities across a range of key EMEA markets 
  • Analysing and quantifying the likelihood and range of technical / commercial impacts of the relevant risks and opportunities on investment, development, execution and operation of our battery energy storage assets  
  • Working closely with the Technology, Markets and Trading team to determine mitigation / optimisation strategies for the risks and opportunities 
  • Actively developing and maintaining strong relationships with government, system operators and regulators, industry bodies and relevant counterparties in key EMEA markets 
  • Lobbying and working with government, transmission and distribution system operators to secure contracts  
  • Working collaboratively across the global organisation to coordinate policy, market and regulatory efforts  

REQUIREMENTS

  • Keen interest in energy policy, market design, economics and regulations in key EMEA markets 
  • Clear written and verbal communication of complex topics, with particular an ability to influence
  • Proficiency with numerical analysis, including quantification of commercial risks and opportunities 
  • Able to manage complex, global and dynamically evolving environments 
  • Able to take initiative and prioritise tasks in an agile manner 
  • Excellent attention to detail   
  • Fluency in English
  • Working proficiency in an additional European language  is desirable
  • Work experience in energy, policy or investment related to battery storage 

To perform at the right level in this role, you will have 2+ years’ experience gained in a relevant field to battery storage including policy or regulations, e.g. at a system operator, market regulator or at an investor, trader or operator of renewable assets or batteries. You will have some foundation knowledge or proven commercial exposure to the renewable energy sector and be able to demonstrate strong written, commercial, communication, organisational, reporting and problem-solving skills.
